LANSING ? In another step to curb Michigan’s rising infant mortality rate, the Michigan Department of Community Health is partnering with text4baby – a free texting service that provides health information to pregnant women and new moms via text messaging.
Text4baby is available to pregnant women and new moms from pregnancy through a baby?s first year.
According to a news release from the Michigan Department of Community Health, research shows more than 85 percent of Americans own a cell phone and 72 percent of cell users send or receive text messages. The service provides accurate, text-length health information and resources in a format that is personal and timely.
Women can sign up for the service by texting BABY to 511411 (or BEBE for Spanish). They will receive three free SMS text messages each week timed to their due date or baby?s date of birth.
